InterAct Office Building

This LEED-Gold building was designed in partnership with a local developer to create new offices for InterAct of Michigan, a community service agency. According to Hinman’s Director of Construction, Joe Kuiper, the result of achieving LEED marked a milestone in his career in commercial building construction: “This is the cleanest site I have ever worked on and it really helps the quality of the workmanship.”

Project Features include:

  • Designed to be subdivided in future if space needs change

  • View to the outdoors from 90% of the interior.

  • Green roof atop entry canopies reduces storm-water runoff

  • Reflective concrete parking lot in back to reduce heat-island effect

  • Occupancy sensors throughout that help decrease energy usage

  • Paints, caulks, sealants, adhesives and flooring are low-VOC to reduce “new building smell” and associated chemical off-gassing

  • Low flow plumbing fixtures that attribute to water use reduction
