Cesar Chavez Elementary
Community involvement in the planning and design of this new elementary school was very important. During the planning, all community forums were conducted in a bilingual format, English and Spanish, to engage area residents.
The school also presented some unique challenges as it was constructed on the same site while the old building remained operational. The 2.7 acre urban site was also very tight to work in and keeping schools operations and traffic flowing was challenging. The neighboring church was used to serve as the gymnasium and cafeteria during construction.
